Miner Sculpture Chainsaw Wood Carving July 2014

To celebrate the vast mining history of Mosley Common Village, and following a successful funding application with Wigan and Leigh Homes, Mosley Common in Bloom community group commissioned local chainsaw sculptor Andy Burgess to create a Miner Bust Sculpture from a diseased tree on the village green.

The event was promoted, advertised and we invited our primary schools, residents and visitors to come out to watch the sculpture emerge on the day.  The rain didnt put people off and it proved popular and very interesting.

We approached a local high school to edit a short film of the event so that everyone, those far afield, housbound or at work, newcomers to the area etc can see exactly how this sculpture was created, and capture it for years to come.
